“The 11th hour”, this looks like a phrase which talking about time. However, it is more about the critical moment. This movie was created, produced an narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, it talks about how global warming effects human’s live and advocate human pay more attention of our environment. In this movie, Leonardo looks back to human industrial pollution and interviewed more than 50 famous scientists, visionaries, and leaders in related fields.
“The 11th hour”, takes on the grander view by exploring humanity’s past, present, and future relationship to earth: how we came to this point, why aren’t’ t we doing anything about it, and what must we do to have a decent future.
First, what is the problem? This part talks about the different between human and other species and the basic energy before the oil was found. Then it turns to how oil energy effects human. Secondary is about the origin of the problem. This part is quite interested, it mentioned about economy, consumption desire and human daily behaviors etc. Final, is our action! What we should do, what we can do? We have to start with the details, because the earth is our home.
There are many memorable quotes that really resonate with me. In the movie, David Suzuki said in the 4,000,000,000 years of earth’s history, 99.9999% of species ever existed have become extinct. So, it is not unnatural for human beings as a species to become extinct. What is unnatural for human beings we are taking more than 54,000 species a year to extinction with us!
After watching this movie, my feeling is so complicated. Is this our own place? How we can make balance between environment and economy? We have gained a lots from natural, is time for us to do something good for her – our lovely earth.
